News and Media Republic grew out of the ideas behind the People’s Republic of South Devon.
Back in 2005 a handful of media types decided to get together and explore the what we being heralded as ‘new media’ in a fun, inclusive, irreverent, incisive and expansive way.
In the process we wanted to champion some of the lesser known stories, groups, people and events. Along the way we’ve held musical events, podcasted, organised film festivals, conducted email campaigns and social media’ed.
All this with a social enterprise ethos that champions communication, inclusion and participation.
At the moment we publish the PRSD (the People’s Republic of South Devon); D&CFilm; and ArtsCulture.
