The News and Media Republic sites offer loadsa opportunities to discuss content and get involved, which is A Very Good Thing Indeed.
However, we want our platforms to be inclusive and safe, so we’ve knocked up some guidelines for all participants to abide by.
We will not tolerate racism, sexism, homophobia or other forms of hate-speech, or content that could be interpreted as such.
Remember, tone of voice and sarcasm don’t always come across using words on a screen – so even if you think you’re being clever, you could still end up looking a bit of a dick.
Similarly we welcome debate and dissent, but discourage obscenity and mindless abuse. Stick to discussing the issues, please.
We will also remove any stuff that may put us in legal jeopardy, such as potentially libellous or defamatory postings, or copyrighted material. If you wanna quote from external sources, post a few lines and a link to the original article. We don’t have the time (or the cash) for lengthy court battles, thank you very much.
While we endeavour to keep a wry eye on all News and Media Republic activity, we also rely on our users to report abusive, offensive or inappropriate comments when they spot them.
Finally, those stubborn souls who persistently or wilfully ignore these guidelines will be warned via email to wind their proverbial necks in. Any further shenanigans and they will be sent to the naughty step with their posting privileges withdrawn.
If you have suggestions or questions about any aspect of participation on any of the News and Media Republic sites, bung us an email at info@newsandmediarepublic.org
